"What a splendid weekend it was. You contracted a visit and rewarded us with a visitation!
The atmosphere was terrific and it really brought the house alive.
You have a delightful band of historical interpreters and must be very proud of the way in which they all throw themselves into the project with such enthusiasm."
Sir John Sykes
The Merchant's House Trust (Marlborough)
The Seventeenth Century Society is a group of enthusiastic individuals which recreates many aspects and levels of seventeenth century life and society.
As a group of friends, we aim to continually enhance our knowledge of all facets of seventeenth century living, and to reflect that knowledge in the interpretations we offer. We constantly strive to improve what we do; to provide better and more distinctive events for sponsors; and to combine offering vivid historical insights with having fun.
We take pride in vibrantly recreating a seventeenth century household; animating a building with colourful characters; and providing glimpses of how life was lived by young and old, and by servants as well as masters and mistresses. |
